When I moved east to be closer to the ocean a few years ago, I was fortunate enough to find the perfect cottage that met all my criteria- not too big, a large yard for the dogs, and plenty of outdoor space that was waiting to be transformed.
Living in Florida for almost 20 years, I’ve always found it curious that previously I didn’t take advantage of the ability to be outside year round. With the space constraints that the cottage presented, I had the perfect opportunity to change that by utilizing my outdoor space as an extension of our living area, thus bringing the outdoors in.
The anchor of this space is the large farm table that seats 14. Made from lumber and a quart of gray stain, this was an easy project that came together in less than a day. The majority of my decor utilizes natural elements and the centerpieces are no exception. Sand, white candles in mason jars, and thrifted silver become an inexpensive and interesting look.
The more haphazard the placement of plants, the better. It gives the space a true bohemian beach vibe.
